For more than 25 years, pastry chef Antonio Nuovo and his wife, Hazel, have established a reputation for creating beautiful, delicious handmade cakes and desserts. Operating out of a small kitchen on Lighthouse Avenue, Layers began providing an eclectic menu of European specialties and American favorites to many popular restaurants, coffeehouses, and party venues. In 2001, Layers opened its first retail location, which it quickly outgrew, and moved to its current location on Soledad Drive. As business increased so did the Nuovo family, now in its third generation of entrepreneurs who take pride in satisfying the sweet cravings of the Monterey community.
